COMMERCIAL VEHICLES
In our experience when manufacturing refrigerated trucks and vans, it is crucial that the correct grade of Extruded Polystyrene is used for each application. For example when manufacturing large truck panels for refrigerated trailers the core material has to absorb the shear forces which occur due to the loading and bending of the composite panel. STYROFOAM RTM is ideally suited in this application as a core material because its high compressive strength prevents the facings from buckling, it increases the composite panel’s resistance to deflection and its shear strength provides a very high shear modulus. When lining panel vans a different grade of foam core may be suitable and we can provide advice based on the type of vehicle or panel you are manufacturing.

Available in a range of sheet sizes and thicknesses from 6-165mm, Ravatherm XPS H LB (previously Styrofoam LBHX) boards have a calibrated dust free surface that provides an excellent key for lamination. Ideal for production of composite panels due to Ravatherm’s unique high strength in compression, tension, bending and shear. The high strength to weight ratio is particularly important in applications such as commercial vehicles. Due to its homogenous cell structure and uniform density Ravatherm can be cut very accurately and to very close tolerances. The closed cell structure ensures that Ravatherm retains its performance even when in permanent contact with moisture. Ravatherm material is resistant to most acids and salts, it does not rot and its thermal and mechanical properties have been proven long-term. Ravatherm XPS H LB provides reliable and durable thermal insulation performance.
