Most polyurethanes in the UK are now manufactured as PIR (Polyisocyanurates) which achieve low thermal values and a good resistance to fire making them ideal for certain building applications. They can also be produced without any facings, as a close tolerance version, for panel applications requiring a Class 1 surface spread of the flame from the foam core.

CASSPIR are rigid polyisocyanurate (PIR) foam boards free of CFC and HFCF gas. The rigid PIR foam is a variant of the polyurethane (PUR) foam; although it is practically identical in appearance, mechanical and thermal properties, it has a greater resistance to fire and temperature. In fires, the PIR foam reacts creating a superficial carbonised layer protecting and impeding the penetration of fire toward inner layers. The formulation and design of the CASSPIR foam give it specific thermal and mechanical properties which make it especially suitable as a thermal insulator to store and transport LNG (liquefied natural gas), general cryogenic applications as well as the core in composite panels for a diverse range of construction applications. CASSPIR is available in 2000x1200mm sheet size in any thickness from 18mm upwards.
